The Blog is Back
We're back and we're better than ever. If you're sick and tired of the media spin and their troubling obsession with petty issues, you're not alone.
During the recently concluded session of Parliament, your PLP Government delivered on one of our cornerstone election promises. We put Bermudians first by making sure that all Bermudian families who need it most will have access to free, high quality day care.
Free day care is a big help for working families. Let's face it, day care is really expensive and too many mothers and fathers have to shell out large sums of money to make sure their kids are taken care of. No more. Thanks to your PLP government, all hard working Bermudian parents will be able to send their kids to free, high quality day care.
We are pleased that members of the United Bermuda Party voted for the PLP's free day care proposal. However, we were perplexed that a party that so often plays the wasteful spending card criticised us for focusing on helping the people of Bermuda. Maybe the UBP forget who they are representing. Remember during the election when they proposed granting Bermudian status to up to 8,000 people and adding them to the voter rolls? First it was Bermudian status and now it's day care for foreigners! Perhaps the UBP should stop fighting for foreigners and join with the PLP and put Bermudians first.
Free day care is an amazing accomplishment, but, we still have a lot to do. We must provide FutureCare for our seniors and college tuition relief for our students. It would be a travesty if we couldn't pay for these key programmes aimed at helping Bermudians if our money was tied up providing luxuries to foreigners who call a place other than Bermuda home.
It's time to be proactive. The PLP government is focused like a laser beam on improving the lives of working people. We've had enough talk - we're taking action to help working families and we'll always put Bermudians first.

I think that you need to get your facts straight, it is NOT FREE FOR ALL BERMUDIANS, there is a limit on income to the household - I believe Dale Butler said $70,000.00, and under would benefit from this.
I think that taking care of seniors would have been a priority over daycare.
However, I do agree that it should not be for foreigner, as they tend to make higher salaries and alot of them also get living allowances.
Thanks for the note, Hazel. Regarding the seniors, the PLP government is working hard on FutureCare. Taking care of seniors is absolutely a priority for the PLP.
