Why is a John Swan Rant News?
Every so often, Bermuda's newspapers lead with a long, one sided story covering a rant from Sir John Swan. The Bermuda Sun published one before the election, and, in today's paper, The Royal Gazette did the same.
Is it because he's a former Premier? Maybe it's because he's been knighted? Well, Dame Jennifer Smith holds both of those honors in addition to being the first PLP Premier. When was the last time our esteemed newspapers covered a commentary from her that didn't feature a reply by the opposition in the article?
Our newspapers' love affair with Sir John is perplexing and is yet another piece of evidence of their bias. It's telling that The Royal Gazette didn't even attempt to balance Sir John's rant with a quote from someone in the PLP.
