Pull Partisan Political Messaging from CITV, Paid Government Advertising

Recently, CITV - our taxpayer funded TV network which is supposed to be dedicated to educating Bermudians about the community, our history and our culture - was used for a blatantly partisan and political messaging. The piece, the "Premier's Youth Message" reads like a political advert for the OBA. The piece is also running as advertising on private stations, being paid for by taxpayer dollars

Recently, CITV - our taxpayer funded TV network which is supposed to be dedicated to educating Bermudians about the community, our history and our culture - was used for a blatantly partisan and political messaging. The piece, the "Premier's Youth Message" reads like a political advert for the OBA. The piece is also running as advertising on private stations, being paid for by taxpayer dollars.

This abuse of taxpayer dollars by the OBA is beyond the pale. Bermuda deserves better than an OBA government that uses our taxpayer dollars for their partisan, political goals. CITV is a resource for the people of Bermuda to learn about our island. It is not a place for partisan political broadcasts.

This OBA government has broken promise after promise. They lost 2,000 jobs instead of adding their promised 2,000 jobs. They pursued Pathways to Status instead of protecting our Bermudian identity. They passed gaming instead of having a referendum they promised. In addition, they cut public education and scholarships instead of investing in our youth.

Now, they are turning CITV into a partisan organ after saying that we shouldn't even have it to begin with. The OBA says one thing and does another. Bermuda deserves better. It is time for a government that puts Bermudians first. --
