Jason P. Hayward

MP Constituency #17 - Pembroke Central

In 2017, Jason was appointed to the Bermuda Government Senate and currently serves as Junior Minister of Education, Health, Labour, Community Affairs and Sports. Jason serves on Bermuda’s Labour Advisory Council (LAC), Bermuda College Board of Governors and is the current Chairman of the National Training Board. 

 Jason chaired the Workforce Development Plan Working Group which produced Bermuda’s first National Workforce Development Plan, aimed at ensuring Bermudians are properly prepared to take advantage of both current and future job opportunities.  In addition, Jason served on the bipartisan Joint Select Committee tasked with exploring the option of establishing a living wage for Bermuda.

He is currently the President of the Bermuda Public Services Union (BPSU) a post he has held since 2014.  He is also the 2nd Vice President of the Caribbean Public Services Association and Chairman of the organizations Education Committee. Jason also served as President of the Bermuda Trade Union Congress between 2017 – 2019.

Jason is a Director of the Bermuda Credit Union (BCU) and serves as the institutions Treasurer.

Prior to March 2015, Jason spent 11 years working in the Economic and National Accounts Division of the Bermuda Government Department of Statistics producing outputs such as the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the Retail Sales Index (RSI), the Balance of Payments (BOP) and the Tourism Satellite Account (TSA).

Jason attended the Bermuda College and graduated with an Associate degree in Arts & Science. He is a graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  He also possesses a Master’s degree of Business Administration in Finance from Nova Southeastern University. 

He is an alumnus of both the Canada–Caribbean Emerging Leaders Dialogue (a Commonwealth leadership development program) and the US Department of States’ International Visitor Leadership Program.  He holds a Chartered Manager designation and a Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute. He has also obtained a Certificate in Labour Relations for Queen’s University Industrial Relations Center.

In 2017, Jason was named one of the ‘10 Most Fascinating People in Bermuda’, as a result of his avid social activism. He has also formerly served as an Executive and Management Officer of the North Village Community Club between 2007 - 2014.
