Kathy Lynn Simmons is a barrister, attorney and commercial mediator, admitted to the Bermuda Bar and the Bar of England and Wales. She has worked in all aspects of law from a general legal practitioner to an Assistant Parliamentary Counsel in the Attorney General’s Chambers, a Parliamentary Counsel, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Legal Affairs, a Legal Consultant to the Cabinet Office (PATI) Implementation Team, Consultant Advisor and Legislative Strategist to the Legislature. 

Kathy has  completed the Freedom of Information Professional Compliance Training in the UK; Strategic Leadership training – RIPA International, UK; the Government of Bermuda Senior Management Development Programme and several other courses in Media Relations and Speech Writing, Management and Policy Development, Financial Management and Budgeting, Certificate in Recruitment and Selection, and a Government Legal Advisors Course at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, School of Advanced Study, University of London. 

Kathy is a member of the Honorable Society of Inner Temple and the Commonwealth Association of Legislative Counsel. She is the current Chair of the Co-parenting Mediation Council and is under-going domestic abuse and sexual assault training at the Centre Against Abuse.

Kathy received her Bachelor of Arts (Major Political Science and Minor in Sociology) from St. Mary’s University, Halifax, Nova Scotia; her Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Buckingham, UK; and attended the Inns of Court School of Law, UK for her Bar Vocational Course.    Kathy has served as the Government Senate Leader and Attorney General & Minister of Legal Affairs since July 2017. 

Kathy is married to Myron and they have three sons, Ian, Shane,  and Jon.
