Most Bermudians share the dream of home ownership, but the reality is that for many it is a dream that is hard to attain without an inheritance. Many young Bermudians cannot fathom purchasing a property and the decision between living at home or paying someone else’s mortgage is an unwelcome choice for many. Our vision for the next decade provides a stepping stone onto Bermuda’s property ladder. The next PLP government will incentivise the construction of studio and one bedroom apartments that will be affordable enough for young Bermudians to purchase. This will enable the students, who we so desperately want, to return home to become property owners at a young age while they build equity in their own homes.
