Caymanians Warn Bermudians: Say No to Pathways to Status Legislation
A recent clip from the Progressive Labour Party's (PLP) press conference has sparked significant conversation in the Cayman Islands, cautioning Bermudians against supporting a Michael Fahy-style Pathways to Status legislation. The video, which has gone viral on Instagram, has garnered over 800 likes, 729 shares, and more than 22,000 views as of Wednesday, February 5th.
In the clip, the Premier warns Bermudians about the potential consequences of adopting a Pathways to Status style immigration bill, highlighting the experience of Caymanians who now find themselves a minority in their own country. The Caymanian community has responded in agreement, with comments such as:
- “It’s nothing but the truth. God bless Bermuda!”
- “Respect to this Leader! Keep Bermuda for Bermudians… I wish we could go back in time and change this in our country.”
- “I wish he was running in Cayman. Cause I would vote for him.”
- “Can we elect him? He seems to have the will to stand up for his people.”
This serves as a stark warning to Bermudians: placing Michael Fahy in Constituency #20 is a clear indication of the Opposition's intentions. A vote for the OBA is a vote for Michael Fahy and the Pathways to Status. February 18th presents an opportunity for Bermudians to protect their status and heritage by voting solidly for the PLP in every constituency.
