International Nurses Day:“Our Nurses; Our Future”
The Progressive Labour Party (PLP) joins both the local and global community in celebrating International Nurses Day. Embracing this year’s theme: “Our Nurses; Our Future”, the PLP salutes nurses’ dedication, compassion, and tireless commitment to both their patients and to delivering exceptional healthcare services.
Organized by the International Council of Nurses (ICN), International Nurses Day has been recognized since 1965 and is celebrated on May 12th as it also coincides with Florence Nightingale’s birthday.
The PLP acknowledges the invaluable contributions of nurses, noting that nurses form the backbone of our healthcare systems. These remarkable individuals play a pivotal role in promoting health, preventing illnesses, and providing holistic care to individuals, families, and the wider community.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, our nurses remained steadfast on the frontline, further demonstrating their innate selflessness and bravery by risking their own health to save lives and support patients. During this difficult time, their unwavering dedication served as a beacon of hope for many.
On International Nurses Day, the PLP expresses our deepest gratitude to all nurses for the sacrifices they make, the long hours they work, and the emotional toll they bear to care for others.
The Party also extends our gratitude to the families and loved ones of nurses, who support and stand by them throughout their demanding and challenging careers, therefore, enabling nurses to fulfill their professional duties with excellence.
On this International Nurses Day, the PLP invites the community to celebrate the extraordinary contributions of nurses and honor their unwavering dedication to patient care.
Together, let us raise awareness of the critical role nurses play in our society and commit to supporting and empowering them in their noble endeavors.
