Meet Lindsay

Senator Lindsay Simmons is a prominent Bermudian public servant and member of the Progressive Labour Party (PLP). Since 2020, she has served as a government senator and the Junior Minister for Social Development, Seniors, Youth, and Home Affairs. Her career has been dedicated to advocacy and public service, particularly focusing on Bermuda’s most vulnerable populations.

Born and raised in Bermuda, Senator Simmons attended Gilbert Institute, West Pembroke Primary, The Berkeley Institute, and later earned her associate and bachelor’s degrees in Arts and Science from Keiser University. She is currently the Director of Operations at Bermuda Restaurants Ltd. and has also worked as a substitute teacher for the Department of Education.

A foster care advocate, Senator Simmons became the youngest foster parent in Bermuda in 2005. Over the years, she has fostered over 20 children and led the Foster Parents Association as president for nine years. In 2013, she established the Glenda Edwards Continuing Scholarship to support foster children pursuing education. She also serves on various boards as, including Chairperson of the CedarBridge Academy Board of Governors and the Canine Advisory Board.

Her community contributions have been widely recognized, earning her accolades such as the Queen’s Certificate and Badge of Honor, the Paul Harris Fellows Award from the Pembroke Rotary, and the Bermudian Magazine’s Unsung Hero Award.

In 2024, Senator Simmons was the PLP candidate for Smith’s North (Constituency 10) in a by-election, emphasizing her commitment to accountability and active representation of her constituent. Senator Simmons is a wife, daughter, mother, sister, friend and community activist. She is the proud mother to her daughter Laundyn and continues to champion policies that promote fairness, inclusivity, and community well-being across Bermuda.
