PLP Statement: PLP Event to Remember Dame Lois Browne-Evans
The Progressive Labour Party invites you to a night of music and tributes honouring Bermuda’s National Hero and political trailblazer Dame Lois Browne-Evans on the 10th anniversary of her passing. This Monday, May 29th we will gather at Dr. E.F. Gordon Memorial Hall at BIU Headquarters from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
PLP Leader David Burt remarked, "Bermudians owe a tremendous debt to Dame Lois Browne-Evans for her hard work, sacrifice and commitment to building a Bermuda that works for every Bermudian. We acknowledge her and pay tribute to her not just as a former leader of the Progressive Labour Party but as someone who improved Bermuda for everyone."
This event will feature tributes from son Donald Evans, parliamentary colleagues and members of the legal fraternity, as well as musical guests including Toni Robinson.
There will also be remarks from Party Leader, the Hon. David Burt and, following the official programme, there will be the chance to mingle over refreshments.
Dame Lois Browne Evans was Bermuda's first female barrister, the first black woman to be elected to Parliament in Bermuda and the first female Leader of the Opposition in the entire British Commonwealth as well as Bermuda's first female Attorney General.
We encourage all to come out in memory of our fearless former Leader, Dame Lois, to whom we owe so much of our political and personal freedoms.
