PLP Delivers Real Progress for Bermudians While the OBA Distracts
Doug De Couto and the OBA will say anything to distract from the fact that they cannot match the progress the PLP has made for workers, families, and a fairer Bermuda.
Delivering Tangible Relief for Bermudians
Our policies are addressing the issues that matter most to Bermudians. Under the PLP’s leadership, we have:
- Reduced Payroll Taxes: 86% of workers and every local business are now paying less, leaving more money in their pockets.
- Expanded Childcare Assistance: Hundreds of families are receiving the support they need to afford quality childcare.
- Increased Seniors’ Pensions: Ensuring our elders can live with dignity and financial security.
- Slashed Energy Taxes by 60%: Providing real relief from the rising cost of living.
These actions aren’t just numbers on a page—they represent real, tangible benefits making life easier for hardworking Bermudians.
The PLP: Responsible Fiscal Management
While De Couto and the OBA cherry-pick from the Fiscal Responsibility Panel (FRP) report, this Government is on track to deliver Bermuda’s first budget surplus in 21 years.
- Freezing Health Insurance Premiums: For the third consecutive year, the Government has used the Sinking Fund to freeze premiums, saving every insured person $540 annually.
- Improving Healthcare Access: Next year, we will enhance HIP and FutureCare to include one free primary care and specialist visit per year, ensuring that co-pays don’t prevent Bermudians from accessing the care they need.
OBA: Out of Touch with Everyday Bermudians
The OBA has consistently failed to prioritize fairness for everyday Bermudians. Their record is one of bad deals and neglect. Even now, their proposed Minister of Finance opposes further tax relief measures like reducing land taxes, vehicle licensing fees, mobile phone taxes, and customs duty.
If this is their vision, it’s clear the OBA is as out of touch today as they were when they proposed reintroducing the TA fee and taxing healthcare.
Leadership That Works for Bermudians
Bermudians deserve leadership that puts their needs first—not policies that benefit only the privileged few. The PLP’s pre-budget report lays out our plan to reduce taxes further and provide relief for all Bermudians.
We are committed to reducing costs, creating opportunities, and ensuring fairness for everyone. That’s what real leadership looks like.
