‘BREAKFAST FORUM IN CELEBRATION OF BREAST CANCER AWARENESS’

The PLP Women’s Caucus celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a Breakfast Forum.
The Forum will feature Dr. Carika Weldon, Founder of CariGenetics (‘Get in the Ring’) and Ms. Azuree Williams, Education & Marketing Manager of Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre (‘Know your Lemons’) and will be moderated by Ms. Elaine Butterfield.

The event will be held at the West Pembroke Primary School Auditorium, North Shore, Pembroke on Saturday, October 28th from 9:00am until 11:00am, and a light breakfast will be served.

Attendees are asked for a donation of $20.00 and tickets may be purchased ahead of time at 27th Century Boutique, the PLP Headquarters, or from members of the PLP Women’s Caucus. You may also pay at the door.  Attendees will be treated to discussions to include ‘Get in the Ring’, A Caribbean Breast Cancer Whole Genome Pilot Study being conducted in Bermuda. This ground-breaking study will establish if some Caribbean women may be more predisposed to breast cancer and will aim to identify markers in DNA that may trigger the onset of the disease.

‘Know Your Lemons’ is a project adopted to improve early detection for breast cancer worldwide through creative and empowering education. This presentation uses lemons as the metaphor to empower women with techniques and habits to greatly improve our chances of early detection, and therefore greatly increase our chance of survival.

We encourage women from all walks of life, young and older, as well as men to come out (men have breast cancer also) and gain valuable information in the fight against Breast Cancer. This powerful discussion is one way you can be empowered to make your mark on the fight against breast cancer.

Part of the proceeds will go toward Bermuda Cancer and Health Education Program.
